In this VIS image, taken by the NASA - Mars Odyssey Orbiter on April, 4, 2013 and during its 50.135nd orbit around the Red Planet, we can see a small section of Samara Valles: a very long and sinuous Valley bordering the Memnonia Quadrangle and the Margaritifer Sinus Quadrangle. Samara Valles is located at approximately 25,1° South Latitude and 19,1° West Longitude (or 340,9° East Long.); it is approx. 615 Km (such as about 381,9 miles) long and it was so named after the ancient name of the Somme River (France).

This frame (which is an Original Mars Odyssey Orbiter b/w frame published on the NASA - Planetary Photojournal with the ID n. PIA 17103) has been additionally processed, magnified, contrast enhanced and then colorized in Absolute Natural Colors (such as the colors that a human eye would actually perceive if someone were onboard the NASA - Mars Odyssey Orbiter and then looked down, towards the Surface of Mars), by using an original technique created - and, in time, dramatically improved - by the Lunar Explorer Italia Team.
