Today's APOD is an "old" Left Panoramic Camera (PanCam) Non-linearized Full Frame EDR that was acquired during the 504th Sol (or Martian Day) of its Mission to Gusev Crater by the NASA - Mars Exploration Rover (MER) Spirit (now decommissioned). The picture was taken at approximately 12:51:57 Mars Local Solar Time and the camera commanded to use the Filter 4 (601 nanometers).

This frame (which is an Original NASA - Mars Exploration Rover "Spirit" Original b/w Frame identified by the ID n. 2P171106290EFFAAIIP2681L4M1) has been additionally processed and then colorized in Absolute Natural Colors (such as the colors that a normal - meaning "in the average" - human eye would actually perceive if someone were on the Surface of Mars, near the NASA - Mars Exploration Rover (MER) Spirit, and then looked towards the Horizon and Sky of Gusev Crater), by using an original technique created - and, in time, dramatically improved - by the Lunar Explorer Italia Team.
