Today's APOD is a Left Rear Hazard Camera (HazCam) Non-linearized Full frame EDR acquired on Sol 562 by the NASA - Mars Exploration Rover (MER) Spirit (now decommissioned) at approximately 15:56:23 (Middle Afternoon Hours) Mars Local Solar Time in the Martian Region of Gusev Crater. We shall try, in the next few days, to make a visual comparison between the appearence (i.e.: structure and physical composition), texture and dominant color of the Surface of Mars, as seen by the NASA - Mars Rover "Curiosity", just arrived and now already operational in Gale Crater, and the Martian Surface (that, in the past eight years, we have become very familiar with) of Gusev Crater and Meridiani Planum, with the aim of trying to identify similarities and differences. This frame has been additionally processed and colorized in Absolute Natural Colors (such as the colors that a normal human eye would actually perceive if someone were on the Surface of Mars, near the NASA - Mars Exploration Rover (MER) "Spirit", and then looked towards the Horizon and Sky), by using an original technique created - and, in time, dramatically improved - by the Lunar Explorer Italia Team.
